Channel Islands Walking Tour
The Channel Islands boast a beautiful variety of countryside, magnificent cliff top walks and an extensive network of footpaths, making them a perfect destination for walkers.
Day One - Arrival in Guernsey
You are met on arrival by your guide and brought to the hotel for assisted check-in, followed by an information meeting.
Day Two - Petit Bôt to Fort Grey
This route starts from Petit Bôt Bay and takes you along the cliff coast towards the West. The walk will take the group to many beautiful viewpoints and relics from the Occupation. You will arrive at the south-western tip of Guernsey, the peninsula Pleinmont. This nature reserve is home to a great variety of wildlife. After Pleinmont, you are leaving the cliff coast and arrive at the sweeping West coast. The clean beaches and sandy bays are very popular with tourists in the summer months. Your walk ends at Fort Grey from where the transfer will take you back to the hotel.
Day Three - Day Trip to Sark
Sark is the smallest of the four main Channel Islands and has a well-earned reputation for its unique history, “olde worlde” charm and tranquil atmosphere. You will discover beautiful scenery with an abundance of wildflowers and sea birds, as well as the island’s 22 miles of stunning coastline and dramatic cliffs, concealing picturesque inlets and secluded bays. As there are no motor vehicles on the Island except for tractors, you will explore everything that Sark has to offer on foot. The tractor will take you from the harbour to the village. From here you will start your walk along Derrible and Dixcart Bay towards Little Sark, the southwestern end of the island, before returning back to the harbour.
Day Four - Petit Bôt Bay to St Peter Port
Starting from Petit Bôt again, the group will walk towards Icart and onwards to Saint’s Bay. Leaving here, the route will take you past the picturesque Le Petit Port Bay towards Jerbourg Point. This spot marks the south-eastern end of the island where the eastern and southern cliffs meet. From the viewpoint, the group will have a breath taking view along Guernsey’s coast and across to the archipelago. The path carries on towards Fermain Bay, a hidden bay on the east coast. This spot is ideal for a relaxing break and a dive into the azure blue Atlantic ocean. The walk carries on along the east coast and ends in St Peter Port.
Day Five - Travel to Jersey
The coach will transfer you from the hotel to the harbour for your ferry to Jersey. You will be met on arrival by your local guide and transferred to the hotel for check-in.
Day Six - Plémont to Bonne Nuit Bay
This walk offers a lovely opportunity to encounter Jersey’s spectacular north coast. The walk starts from stunning Plémont Bay only revealed at low tide and leads you towards the coastal paths, which offer spectacular views of the French coast. You will walk past Grève de Lecq and onto Devil’s Hole, a gorge on the cliff coast. On a clear day, this spot will allow you an uninterrupted view of Guernsey and Sark. The group carries on to Jersey’s most northern point, Sorel. From here, the path leads to Mourier Bay and then Bonne Nuit’s little harbour. You will be transferred back to the hotel.
Day Seven - St Aubin to L'Etacq
This linear, fairly easy walk follows well-defined paths with no steep uphill sections, and provides a gentle introduction to the south-west and west coasts of Jersey. Starting in the picturesque harbour village of St Aubin, you will follow the Corbière Walk, a disused railway line which links St Aubin with La Corbière in a gentle four-mile climb. At the lighthouse the tour will continue north, taking you past Jersey’s mini “national park”, Les Mielles de Morville, an area of mainly sand dunes and marram grass that makes up most of Jersey’s west coast. The tour will follow the coastal path along the untamed St Ouen’s Bay, Jersey’s largest beach which is popular with water sport enthusiasts. Your walk will end at L’Etacq, from where you take your transfer to the hotel.
Day Eight - Departure
Transfer with luggage to the airport or harbour for departure.
